The general covenants in a privacy policy often serve as warnings to the user that they must take steps to protect their private/personal information. For example, the user will be responsible to protect their password and to allow only authorized users to access their account. The user will be warned that anything they post to the site may/will be accessible to the public and that the company cannot be responsible for the use that might be made of the posted material. The user will be reminded that all material they post is posted voluntarily. The user will be warned not to fall for phishing scams because the company will not send emails asking for financial or other personal information.
